MATT SWENSON - Guitar
Since moving to Tampa in 1985, guitarist Matt Swenson has played with many of the areas finest musicians. He cut his teeth backing harmonica players like Smokin' Stevie Disalvo, Roughie Ray, Kim Harpo, D.W. Gill, and the late Rock Bottom. When Jon Puhl was leaving the 6-piece horn driven band The BackBreakers, he recommended Young Matt to take his place, a gig than he had for 10 years.

Growing up, Matt lived in New York, San Francisco, and St. Louis (he started playing guitar after seeing Chuck Berry at the Fox Theater). Blending the styles of West Coast Jump, Texas Blues, and Memphis Soul, he absorbed it all into his own playing. Dialing in roomy, over amplified tones, he jumps, boogies, shuffles, and digs deep, paying homage to the great guitarists that influenced him.
