DENNIS McCARTHY - Drums and Percussion

Dennis, a veteran of over 30 years of playing experience, turned professional in 1974. Performed with such varied acts as rock, country, jazz, blues, top-40 r&b, and many original styles with a long history of consistency and intuitiveness in his approach to playing drums. Modestly considering himself as an artist, painting the overall sound with colorful percussion that flows with texture, sometimes frenentic mixtures of vidid splashes of red and calming hues of blue.

He has performed nationally all over the USA and internationally in Canada, Ireland, England, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Swizterland, Italy, Lichtenstein, Holland, Poland, and most recently in Japan, in festivals, bars, concerts, recording studios, churches, stadiums, television and videos.

Also, he has opened up for such greats as Etta James, Koko Taylor, Bobby Blue Bland, has shared the same stage and performed with Chick Willis ("Stoop Down, Baby"), Earl King, (influenced Jimi Hendrix's "Electric Lady Land" LP) and for the last year has been the road drummer for Hubert Sumlin (Howlin Wolf's guitartist of 22 years.)

He believes that music from the heart, with the right percussion of course, produces images like a good book does.
